Enforcement Training
The Medina County
Police Chief’s Association has established a Basic Law
Enforcement Training program certified by the Ohio Peace Officer
Training Council and administered by the Medina County Career

Advanced Law Enforcement
Training
Advanced training
seminars will be conducted throughout the year as indicated by
the needs of the Medina County law enforcement agencies. The
seminars are designed to benefit both full-time and part-time
officers. Hands-on experience will be extensively utilized.
Classes and seminars are sponsored in cooperation with the
Medina County Police Chief's Association.
Private Security
Start your law enforcement career.
Classes are taught by State Certified Training instructors
adhering to the Ohio Peace Officer Training curriculum.
Candidates must be 18 years of age, possess a high school
diploma or equivalent, pass a pre-test and clear a background
check. Upon successful completion of the 164-hour program and
passing the state test, the student will be a State Certified
Private Security Officer and highly employable. 164 hours –
included firearms portion

Physical Fitness for Public
Safety Employees
This 12-week course will educate the public
safety employee in methods of improving their overall health and
fitness. You will learn health and diet information blended with
a fitness program designed for the individual student’s physical
fitness needs. The course is open to ALL members of law
enforcement, fire departments, EMS, county and municipal judges,
prosecutors and their staffs.

Law Enforcement Topics for
Citizens
Learn valuable information on safety and
security issues in the home, workplace and in the car. Identity
theft, computer security, home safety and vehicle safety are
topics to be taught. Instructors are FBI and other federal
agents, local police, prosecutors and Ohio State troopers.

Fire Training
Firefighters protect
the public from the damages of fire, prevent loss of life from
fire and minimize property damage. Designed for members of
volunteer, paid, or private fire departments.
Volunteer
Firefighter
This 36-hour course provides initial training
to new firefighters. Ohio certification exam is given upon
successful completion of the course and qualifies a candidate to
work with a volunteer fire department. Candidates must be 18
years of age and no longer attending high school.
84-Hour
Firefighter I Transition
The transition course is designed
to complete the training necessary to qualify a candidate to the NFPA Standard for Level I Firefighter.
120-Hour Firefighter Level I
This course trains a candidate to the
NFPA Standard for Firefighter I.
120-Hour
Firefighter Level II
This course trains a candidate to the
NFPA Standard for Firefighter II. Prerequisite: Firefighter I
certification.
Emergency Vehicle
Driver Training
Course consists of 4 hours theory and 4
hours of hands-on training dealing with safe operation of
emergency vehicles.
First Responder
This 40-hour course
is designed for current law enforcement, fire service, and EMS
or those interested in getting into those fields. Includes
airway management, spinal immobilization, CPR, and patient
assessment. Classes scheduled per request. Prerequisite: Current
Ohio driver’s license and be eighteen years of age. $350

Fire Tower
A Fire Tower is
located on the premises of the Medina County Career Center. The
tower is utilized for simulation drills for more comprehensive
training of Fire and EMS personnel. Scheduling of the Fire Tower
is arranged through the Adult & Continuing Education office.
Basic EMT-B
The 130-Hour Basic
EMT-B course is designed to prepare individuals to serve on
rescue squads, ambulance services, and fire departments. Course
includes theory and practical experience. National Registry Exam
fee not included in course fee. This course is required for
certification as an EMT. Accredited by the State of Ohio.
Prerequisite: CPR Certification. Prerequisite: CPR
certification, HS diploma/GED, current Ohio driver’s license,
pass entrance exam.

EMT-B Refresher
The EMT-B refresher
course is required for recertification as an EMT-B in the state
of Ohio. Refresher courses are scheduled on an as-needed basis.
